Jazz Pianist: Jessica Williams

I recently discovered a Jazz pianist I did not know before, Jessica Williams.
Ms. Williams is an accomplished Jazz pianist who has recorded over 60 records and who was called “One of the greatest jazz pianists I have ever heard” by Dave Brubeck. So I am somewhat embarassed that I had never heard of her before!
After hearing them on JazzFM in Toronto, I bought two of her live albums:Â Live At Yoshi’s, Vol. 1 and Live at Yoshi’s, Vol. 2
. These albums were recorded live (obviously) and they consist of a small trio made of Jessica herself on piano, Ray Drummond on bass and Victor Lewis on drums. The recording is intimate and warm and the performances excellent. The trio interprets many great jazz classics like Summertime and Flamenco Sketeches. I think the Heather track on vol. 1 is sublime. The mood of those two discs varies from romantic to up-tempo but the whole mix really fits together well.
This is excellent jazz music for those quiet relaxing evenings or as a backdrop to a fancy dinner with some good friends.

Thank you for the magnificent review, Mr Duford.
I’m glad you liked Heather. It’s my favorite on those CDs.

My site’ll fall apart.
Mac-girl all the way, here! 10.4.9 and counting…
Thanks again - Jessica
Thanks for stopping by Ms Williams, I’m honored!
As for Bill, I’m afraid I don’t have much influence on him
