Microsoft Announces Business Process Alliance

Those of you who know me will know that over the last 6 years I have done a lot of work with Microsoft’s BizTalk Server platform. This work has been mostly around Enterprise Application Integration.
Microsoft just announced that they have entered into an alliance with a bunch of Business Process Management (BPM) companies like Metastorm and Global 360. This promises to extend BizTalk’s functionality in the BPM world and to bring BPM capability down to mid-size companies. Adding this to the upcoming Release 2 of BizTalk 2006 with integration to the Windows Communications Framework and the Windows Workflow Foundation (which includes BPEL 2.0 support), should once again give a nice boost to BizTalk and help keep its status as a very hot technology in the Enterprise.
